AI Auto-Assigns Contracts to Customer Accounts
What's new:
Upload contracts, and then AI automatically assigns them to the right customer accounts, or creates new accounts if they don't exist.
Why it matters:
Scales to 1,000+ contracts (no manual clicking)
Massive time savings (no manual account creation)
Nothing stalls (commitments tracked even if account is uncertain)
Checks your CRM first (avoids duplicate accounts)
This update is applicable if you have (or are interested in potentially adding on) Vanta's Customer Commitments product.
Have questions about this or Customer Commitments more broadly? Luckily for you, the Product Manager behind this feature is coming to the Community in a few weeks to answer your Qs. Now's your chance to get your questions in front of them! Submit your questions here.
Is this out now?
It looks like it was able to auto-populate anyone that was already in the Accounts section, but not the rest. It just needed a refresh to that work out.
hey Jason L. thanks for the follow up! moving forward, if contracts dont auto-assign, it could have to do with:
Contract Doesn't Clearly State the Counterparty
No Email Domains or Contact Info
Check:
Are there any email addresses in the contract? (e.g., contact@customername.com)
Is there a domain AI can use to match? (e.g., customername.com)
No Existing Account in Vanta
If AI can't find a matching account and you don't have a CRM connected, it should create a new account automatically.
File Format or Quality Issues
If contracts are scanned PDFs, handwritten, or poorly formatted, AI may struggle to extract text.
Are your contracts digital PDFs (created from Word/Google Docs) or scanned images?
Can you select and copy text from the PDF, or is it just an image?
These particular contracts (Data Processing Addendum) do not have domains (including emails) in the body. They do have the customer name in the title, though. For example, "DPA with Vanta" My sample fails the rest of the checks, which explains that. It would be useful if the AI would also consider the document title when looking for the counterparty.
You got it, Jason L.. How about this: While I get this over to the team (I'll let you know know it's logged), do you mind getting this point youve made into the AMA queue for the PM who will be here on May 13? If this is a painpoint for you, I would imagine it is for others and I would love for that to be part of the public discussion with the product manager here in the community in a few weeks. Standby!
spoke directly to the PM, jason. it's being forwarded on as we speak!
